Rizoma offers residency opportunities for artists, researchers and makers working at the intersection of art, technology and ecology. Residents stay in the KontejnerLab, our converted shipping container hacklab, with access to the full Rizoma site and its facilities.

What We Offer

• Accommodation for up to two people in the KontejnerLab and 8 in the house (April, May, September only). Camping also possible May–September.
• Access to workshop tools, electronics equipment and the fermentation lab
• 7 hectares of woodlands, grasslands and gardens as a working landscape
• A quiet, rural setting in the Natura 2000 protected hills of Haloze
• Community meals and knowledge exchange
• Connections to partner organisations in Maribor and Ptuj for public showings where appropriate

Who Can Apply

We welcome applications from artists, designers, technologists, researchers and anyone whose practice engages with themes of ecology, sustainability, rural life, citizen science or creative technology.

Open Calls

Spring 2026 Hybrid Residency / Volunteering

We are offering unfunded residency positions for Spring 2026. Residents have full access to the KontejnerLab studio, workshop space, and all Rizoma facilities. In exchange, we ask that you contribute to the ongoing refurbishment and development of the residency space.

What we provide:

• Accommodation in the KontejnerLab
• Food and meals
• Access to workshop, tools and equipment
• Fiber internet connectivity

What we ask:

• Contribute to the ongoing refurbishment of the residency space
• Bring your skills, energy and willingness to help build something together
• Minimum stay of two weeks recommended
