Ask your administrator if you think this is wrong. ===== Reflexive Fragments (2022) ===== ===== a music performance for augmented guitar, real-time computer processing and quadraphonic sound. ===== {{:canning:gtr_.png?direct&400|}} For this years MFRU Rob Canning presents his composition Reflexive Fragments, a showcase of his recent work in the field of new interfaces for musical expression (NIME), in this case the latest iteration of his augmented electric guitar project, Gtr+. Gtr+ uses software and hardware to digitally augment an electric guitar with motion sensing, capacitive touch control and custom sound manipulation software. This electro-instrumental prosthesis brings gestural performance into an immersive sonic landscape where the embodied and virtual strive to meld a new kinaesthetic awareness in computer-assisted performance practice. Technically, the project is realised using a open-source software and open hardware toolchain. This includes a DIY custom interface board using ESP32 IoT microcontroler, an MPU6050 accelerometer chip, homemade capacitive sensors (0.01€ coins) and a 3D printed scratchplate enclosure. Software used includes NodeJS, the Arduino IDE, the Supercollider audio processing language and a GNU/Linux Debian operating system.
